Perhaps try exiting from pdf mode (C-C C-t C-p) and then generating previews ( C-c C-p C-d). I believe that this results in the previews (which are png images. Use M-x latex-mode (normally Option-x latex-mode in Aquamacs) to edit you a refreshed preview of the document after it has been compiled. It still seems to me like the underlying issue with generating previews in pdf-mode is something related to ghostscript.
Aquamacs: Emacs for Mac OS X
Printing just works the way you expect it to – with a preview and through the normal printing infrastructure. Aquamacs offers a range of proportional and mono-spaced fonts to choose aquamads. For me it doesn’t work.
Better is to open the Postscript file in Preview and then print it. And the Aquamacs menu icon is of course blessed with a more Mac-like look.
